Wind River Linux 7 is a commercial-grade Linux solution for embedded device development based on the Yocto Project implementation of the OpenEmbedded Core (OE-Core) project. The Yocto Project uses the build instructions (recipes), configuration files and other metadata to define the core platform project image, the applications contained within the image and the overall functionality provided by the resulting Linux distribution. Wind River Linux 7 reinforces its commitment to supporting open source innovation by delivering commercially validated and supported software based on the current Long Term Support Initiative (LTSI) kernel. Wind River Linux 7 brings together the flexibility of deployment and the interoperability of open source along with a new and improved out-of-box experience for easier setup and deployment. It includes the Linux kernel version 3.14 LTSI. Wind River Linux builds on this core functionality and adds Wind River-specific extensions, tools, and services to facilitate the rapid development of embedded Linux platforms.
