Time (mm:ss) Narration
From: 00:00 The WindShare Desktop Client allows you to sync a local drive with WindShare to ensure that you have access to the latest content. This is a big advantage if you need to install Wind River products on an offline computer, or if you have a slow connection speed. To set up syncing with WindShare, the first step is to download and install the desktop client on a computer that has Internet access. Click this link, and then this one, and on the next page you'll choose your operating system. Note that if you've previously installed a desktop client version older than 2.1, you'll have to uninstall it first. If you're on Linux, you can choose your distribution from among these, or use the generic client if your distribution isn't one of these. Once you've made your selection, you'll see instructions and commands to install using a package manager, or you can install manually. For Windows, you'll download an installer.
From: 01:00 Click the "Windows Desktop Client" button, save the installer locally, and the file will start downloading. When it finishes, run it, and proceed through the setup wizard to install the client. Click "Next" and "Finish" to launch it. Specify the WindShare URL, and click "Next". Then type the user name and password that you use to log into WindShare, and click "Next". Here you can choose to sync everything associated with your products, or just specific components. You can also create a directory for WindShare to sync with. By default, the client creates a WindShare sync folder named "wssync" in your home directory, but you can change it. Click "Connect" and "Finish" to begin synchronization between WindShare and your local folder. This may take a while, depending on your product components and network speed.
From: 02:01 As soon as you finish configuring your desktop client, it will begin downloading your Wind River products. You can click the Wind share icon in the toolbar to check the progress of your download. When you see the green circle with a white checkmark, all of your Wind River products have been downloaded, and are ready to install. Go to the directory you specified and, in the Installers folder, find your product folder to install your product by running the setup executable. If you want to install on a different computer, you can burn the entire synchronized WindShare folder onto a DVD, copy it onto a USB stick, or share it on your local network. After installation, you'll need to activate your products. This has been a typical installation for Windows. For Linux, or for certain products like Wind River Titanium Server, from the WindShare home page, follow these instructions. For more information on using the WindShare sync client, please click "Help" on the left panel.
From: 03:02 That's it! Thanks for watching.
